Books And how the Info is bad or good
Hey’
In class yesterday (oct-21-2009 My brothers birthday happy 18th b-day) The class worked on books that gave the best info. For example We used 7 biology books that were in different grade levles. There was one book that had too! much information. that can be hard to read because they had small words and pictures with know arrows pointing to them. There was also a book that had only a small paragraph and a lame picture with it. You would only know a little about the thing you are trying to read (blook cells).
We were learning about cells and i think the best book with good info, good picutres, and geat words to read was “Universes Large And Small CELLS” The author used colorful boxes to divide the sections up and used bolded words to tell definitions and things like that. The pictures were very well dawn and shows what they look like better then real photos in the other books.

This sounds like a great way to approach research – laying out a bunch of books in front of you and comparing them side by side. The great thing about it is that it’s totally something you could do at the library to find just what you needed – it could save you from hauling home a ton of books that you don’t really need!
I like that you looked so closely at the pictures. I think for a topic like biology that’s really important. I often find that when I’m learning about something scientific I need good illustrations and definitions to help me. And you’re right – really small text can make it tricky to read.
Do you like biology?
Happy Birthday to your brother!
