Independent reading update!!!!

      Hello mentor.

I read a book called Tears of a tiger. I finished it and i think it was really good it’s everything I liked to read about (sports, danger, sadness).

Now I’m reading a book i read before but don’t remember any of it really. It’s called “Out Of The Dust.” I think it’s a really good book because it’s a girl suffering in her everyday life and witnesses her own moms death and she’s really good at playing piano well in till she got injured. I think it’s going to get better as it goes. I’m liking this one.

      I have some questions:

-What are you reading?

-What is your book about?

-Do you have anything you want to ask me?

-I can’t wait to hear from you.

I think I got my spelling down this time. I double checked it. Haha i took your advice. =Þ

How is everything going in life? bye=]

  1. Glad to hear that you’re enjoying your books. I really love your description of the first one as being about “sports, danger, sadness” – that really says it all. What kind of sports? Do you just generally like sports or are there certain ones you really like to read about? My son loves to read anything having to do with baseball.

I’ve never read *Out of the Dust*, but I’ve definitely heard of it. It is supposed to be really good, if sort of sad. But then you just said you liked sadness, didn’t you? What is it about sad stories that’s appealing to you? I like sad stories because I like to feel strong emotion when I read – I think it helps me feel a connection to the characters.

I will confess that lately I have not been reading enough books. I read all the time, but mostly it is websites (especially blogs) or magazines – my favorite is one called The New Yorker. But I’ve got a book on my bedside table that I can’t wait to start reading. It’s called *Marco Polo Didn’t Go There* and it’s by a travel writer named Rolf Potts. It talks all about his adventures around the world – from Libya to Thailand. I really enjoy reading nonfiction about travel, especially travel to places I’ve never been. I’ll tell you what – you’ve inspired me. I promise to start reading it tonight and I’ll let you know what I think the next time we “talk” online.

I am curious to know how life is going for you – school has been in session now for a couple of months. How are you feeling about how your classes are going? Do you have any plans for the holidays?

(Oh, and MUCH better on the spelling. I noticed it immediately. And you know what? It made your post so easy to read!)
